Walking and Camping Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help

Join us on this 5-day prayerful pilgrimage starting north of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, heading up the beautiful western shore of Lake Michigan, and inland across on the Scenic Ice-age Trail to the site of the only Vatican-approved apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in America: Our Lady of Good Help. We will camp along the way in breathtaking surroundings and having reached our destination will spend the final night in the comfort of a hotel.
Monday, July 9 (guys) & July 16 (girls)
8:00 am – Arrive at St. Peter in Volo for Mass.
Load camping supplies in Van. Day supplies in Backpack (* see list below)
9:00 am – Bus will drive 2 hours take us to starting point north of Sheboygan, Wisconsin
Walk half day.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Every day begins with Mass at our campsite. Then after breakfast, we prepare our lunch for the day and pack up all our things into our carrying bags and the van and together begin the next leg of the trail. Once we reach the day’s destination, we will set up the campsite and have dinner and relax, play sports, sit around a fire.
We arrive in the afternoon/at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. We will celebrate our final Mass here, have dinner and opportunity to go to the gift shop. This night we will stay in a hotel.
Saturday, July 14 (guys) & July 21 (girls)
Bus will pick us up at Hotel (TBD) in Green Bay at 11:00 am. Return trip to St. Peter in Volo Arrive at approx. 3:00 pm.
PRICE for trip including food, camping fees and hotel and bus transportation to and from St. Peter in Volo: $175.00 (please tell us if you need financial help or if you are willing to sponsor another child) Bring signed Permission slip and payment to St. John Cantius or St. Peter. Checks should be made payable to “St. John Cantius”. Final Sign up Date is July 1.
IMPORTANT TRIP INFORMATION
This walking pilgrimage is a continuous five-day, five-night event for youth 13 – 20. It will be conducted by at least two religious and other adult chaperones.
Distance: Mon. 11 miles, Tues. 17 miles, Wed. 15 miles, Thurs. 16 miles, Fri. 15 miles. TOTAL 75 miles.
We will be walking on crushed-gravel hiking trails, sidewalks and the shoulders of roads where it is safe to do so.
We assume that those who sign up for this pilgrimage can be reasonably expected to walk 75 miles in a week.
If someone is not able to continue at any point, we will call the contact number provided us to arrange a pick up.
This is a phone free trip (except for chaperones). Absolutely no portable, electronic music or video game devices. Cameras are allowed, but not phone cameras.
