The Canon Regular “lives in community, he leads the life of a religious, he sings the praises of God by the daily recitation of the Divine Office in choir; but at the same time, at the bidding of his superiors, he is prepared to follow the example of the Apostles by preaching, teaching, and the administration of the sacraments,” or by some other apostolic work. – Acts of the 1st General Chapter of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius.

On January 19 Bishop Alberto Rojas installed Fr. Nathan Caswell, SJC as pastor of St. Peter parish in Volo. The Canons Regular and parishioners of St. Peter’s are thankful to Bishop Rojas for leading a beautiful Installation Mass as his final act as a Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

That afternoon during Solemn Vespers Fr. Nathan was installed as the Superior of the house in Volo by the Superior General Fr. Joshua Caswell, SJC.

This installation of a House Superior recognizes Volo as the first house established outside the Motherhouse at St. John Cantius. This designation ensures St. Peter’s as a place where the Canons charism of ‘Restoration of the Sacred’ will be lived fully with regards to the common life and the Divine Office.

Congratulations Fr. Nathan!!
